Position Overview:

The Senior Risk Analyst for Clean Products is a pivotal role within the Middle Office. This position focuses on assisting the Middle Office in maintaining the integrity of the trading portfolio through a thorough understanding of transactions and their associated risks. Daily collaboration with fellow Risk Analysts, Senior Risk Analysts, Physical and Financial Marketers/Traders, Schedulers, IT, and Accounting personnel is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily assessments of risk and supply portfolios, generating P&L and position reports for Gasoline, Distillates, and Jet products.
  • Produce, analyze, and review daily risk control reports for distribution to management and supply desks.
  • Engage in monthly reconciliations with accounting.
  • Identify, understand, and evaluate the risks linked to deals and structured transactions in the portfolio, ensuring adherence to established transactional and portfolio limits.
  • Monitor and assess the organization's market risk exposure for both short-term and long-term strategies/transactions.
  • Assist in determining suitable methodologies such as mark-to-market, VaR, and accounting reconciliation.
  • Address process breakdowns or errors in daily system operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including supply managers, traders, risk analysts, accounting, confirmations, compliance, credit, and contracts teams.
  • Manage the expectations and requirements of multiple key stakeholders.
  • Interface with various internal and external audit groups.
  • Support compliance and internal control activities and assessments.
  • Contribute to the ETRM implementation project.
Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, General Business, Accounting, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in risk analysis and management within crude and products commodity markets and financial derivatives.
  • Proficiency in logistics, including vessel, rail, truck, and pipeline operations.
  • A highly motivated and detail-oriented individual, capable of thriving in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Team-oriented with a comfort level in collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities, efficiently managing multiple contacts, databases, spreadsheets, projects, and tasks.
  • Compatibility with an office environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Right Angle and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with Right Angle.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in oil refining preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in energy commodity markets or financial derivatives preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trade book to financial, a plus.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
