Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dependable and meticulous Records Management Specialist to assist our client at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Indian Head. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in the proficient and effective administration of records, encompassing both digital and physical formats. The primary duties will involve:

  • Completing and organizing material control sheets and renewing items as needed.
  • Executing classification regrade actions on database records and physical documents.
  • Digitizing books and other bound materials utilizing various scanning technologies.
  • Transforming outdated or obsolete media formats, including disk, audio, and visual, into more current or usable forms.
  • Identifying documents for scanning based on priorities set by the on-site government manager. Preparing documents for scanning by removing posts, staples, or other binding materials, and processing new documents for cataloging.
  • Carrying out vault collection tasks as necessary, including shelf shifting and bulk document destruction.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in converting various formatted information to a digital format. A bachelor's degree with two (2) years of experience or an associate degree with four (4) years of experience may be considered as substitutes.
  • Familiarity with records management principles, practices, and technologies is essential.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic document management systems and records management software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is mandatory to commence employment. The selected applicant may undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
