Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Secretary to join our team at North York General Hospital. As a Unit Secretary, you will provide administrative support to the healthcare team, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit and providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the healthcare team, including preparing and maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and coordinating patient care.
- Answer and direct phone calls, respond to emails, and provide general information to patients and families.
- Prepare and distribute reports, memos, and other documents as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including patient charts and medical records.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient unit operations.
Requirements:
- Grade XII diploma or equivalent.
- A medical office assistant certificate or minimum one year medical inpatient hospital experience, or comparable office experience.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and ability to perform medical transcription.
- Accurate minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience dealing with the public in a fast-paced and customer service environment.
