Job Title: Adjunct Faculty

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach in our Arts program.

About the Position: The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach 2 in-person sections 10-3 on Friday and another section same time on Saturday, with the possibility of adding other times
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization

Requirements:

  • Master's degree with 18 gsh in Ceramics from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to produce quality work
  • Ability to use instructional technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.F.A. degree from an accredited university or college and have at least graduate 18 credits in their teaching field
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
