Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach in our Arts program.
About the Position: The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach 2 in-person sections 10-3 on Friday and another section same time on Saturday, with the possibility of adding other times
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization
Requirements:
- Master's degree with 18 gsh in Ceramics from a regionally accredited college or university
- Ability to work with a diverse student population
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Ability to produce quality work
- Ability to use instructional technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.F.A. degree from an accredited university or college and have at least graduate 18 credits in their teaching field
- Prior experience teaching in higher education
- Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
- Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
