Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Economics Instructor to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an Adjunct Professor of Economics, you will be responsible for teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Your teaching may include a variety of formats: face to face, remote, and online.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Economics or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Economics.
  • Ability to teach in-person and remote-synchronous courses.
  • Ability to teach day, evening, weekends or a combination of these.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • The ability to complete Hybrid Teaching Certification (provided by NOVA).
  • Ability to use instructional technology.
  • Willingness or ability to include undergraduate students in academic research in Economics.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
