About the Role
As a pivotal member of our team, the Senior Officer / Engineer Field Technology plays a crucial role in harnessing technological innovations for the assessment of railway infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Operations and Maintenance:
- Formulate, sustain, and implement processes that transition technology into operational readiness.
- Collaborate with both internal and external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to facilitate maintenance and repair tasks.
- Conduct diagnostics and minor upkeep on technological systems and rail car components.
- Coordinate with relevant parties to ensure material availability and minimize disruptions to testing operations.
- Maintain regular communication with Operations to guarantee technology inspections are conducted efficiently.

Data Analysis and Validation:
- Execute data analysis on systems to confirm product performance meets expectations.
- Validate back-office data accuracy before dissemination to field operations.
- Oversee field verifications related to testing systems, document findings, and present insights for continuous enhancement.

Technology Oversight:
- Manage both internal and external project resources to ensure accurate interpretation of business requirements, maintaining adherence to critical timelines and deliverables.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monitor ongoing performance metrics.
- Generate reports and recommendations for senior management to facilitate technology acceptance.

Program Oversight and Development:
- Conduct engineering assessments of proposed autonomous testing systems to ensure safe and reliable operations within the railway context.
- Review organizational specifications and standards for compliance.
- Modify and create additional rules and standards to enhance the effectiveness of testing systems.
- Supervise and authorize the construction process to ensure alignment with established plans and specifications.

Working Environment
This position operates in a blend of office and outdoor settings, subject to varying weather conditions. The work schedule typically spans Monday to Friday, with potential shifts and weekend availability as required. Occasional travel may be necessary.

Qualifications
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years in engineering field experience is required.
- Familiarity with railroad inspection systems and operations is advantageous.
- Experience with diesel engines, power distribution systems, and rail car maintenance is beneficial.
- Background in technology research and development is a plus.
- Data analysis experience is also considered an asset.

Education and Certifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is essential.
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) is preferred.

Competencies:
- Active listening and critical thinking capabilities.
- Agility in driving change and collaboration with others.
- Ability to identify safety and security risks and lead by example.

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of railroad equipment and engineering standards is necessary.
