Position Overview: Class A CDL Vehicle Operator

As a Class A CDL Vehicle Operator at United Infrastructure Group, Inc., you will be tasked with the operation and safe driving of vehicles exceeding a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 26,000 lbs, frequently utilizing a lowboy trailer. Your responsibilities will encompass the transportation of goods, securing loads, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. This position demands exceptional driving capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Master the operation and safe driving of your assigned vehicle (with lowboy trailer)
  • Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Haul towed weights exceeding 10,000 lbs.
  • Ensure secure attachment of the trailer hitch to the tractor unit
  • Transport goods from the origin to the designated destination
  • Organize and load goods in a systematic manner
  • Secure contents within the vehicle to prevent damage
  • Safely unload goods at various locations
  • Assist in planning delivery routes
  • Adhere to a predetermined route to ensure timely deliveries
  • Maintain communication with dispatch as necessary
  • Verify that shipment contents match the manifest
  • Conduct vehicle inspections before and after each trip
  • Check weather and road conditions prior to departure
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained
  • Perform necessary vehicle maintenance (refueling, oil changes, tire pressure checks, repairs, etc.)
  • Report significant maintenance or delivery issues to management
  • Follow delivery schedules and take appropriate rest breaks
  • Maintain accurate driving and delivery logs
  • Track and report working hours
  • Comply with company policies and regulations
  • Observe all traffic laws and adjust driving according to weather and road conditions
  • Adhere to ICC and DOT regulations
  • Prioritize safety at all times
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant driving experience
  • CDL Class A with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
  • Ability to respond promptly to foreman's instructions
  • Commitment to safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Familiarity with water trucks and road construction equipment
  • Understanding of road construction materials and processes
  • Experience in the construction field is preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Proficient in using smartphones, tablets, and computers
  • Adherence to company policies and support for UIG's mission
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Able to pass a drug screening
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Open to varying shifts as project needs dictate
  • Reliable transportation to and from the job site
  • Must provide personal hand tools (excluding power tools)
  • Willingness to travel for project requirements
