The Buyer/Planner plays a crucial role in the procurement of both direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely delivery and coordination to align with the Master Product Schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this role.
- Oversee the supply of materials necessary for production operations.
- Identify and resolve material-related issues, facilitating communication with internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Operations, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Finance.
- Lead investigations into material discrepancies and Trackwise events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Purchasing Duties:
Generate and issue purchase orders (PO) to suppliers within the JDE system, adhering to approved supplier lists and ensuring timely approvals through the necessary channels.
- Manage lead times and expedite costs with suppliers.
- Maintain a comprehensive tracker for order status, PO status, lead times, and receipt of goods.
- Source new suppliers and vendors based on input from internal teams.
- Ensure all required documentation for materials is received, including specifications, instructions, and certifications.
- Monitor and adjust open POs and supplier commitments, resolving discrepancies to ensure timely payments.
- Acquire quotes for materials as requested by team members.
- Collaborate with Global Procurement for high-value purchases, ensuring compliance with necessary agreements.
- Support Capital Expenditure processes.
Planning Duties:
Conduct raw material planning for projects within the JDE system.
- Maintain inventory levels in line with company policies and objectives, adjusting safety stock levels quarterly based on inventory analysis.
- Manage Item Masters, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing, and other relevant supply chain data.
- Assist in launch activities for new products as directed.
- Review excess and obsolete inventory, providing data to seek reimbursement for customer-owned materials.
- Monitor inventory levels for raw materials to meet targets, adjusting purchasing activities accordingly.
- Process materials for destruction when obsolete or expired.
- Facilitate the shipment of materials, including samples, and assist in preparing shipment documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a life science discipline, supply chain management, or business, or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in a similar role, encompassing production planning, inventory control, and purchasing.
- At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or demonstrated knowledge of industry controls and requirements.
- 1 year of experience with MRP systems.
- APICS Certification is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and act on MRP reports, stock status reports, and material variance reports.
- Strong communication skills for direct interaction with suppliers, production teams, and management.
- Proficient in multitasking and maintaining organization.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- High attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Exhibit independent judgment and analytical skills to fulfill job responsibilities.
