At The Mary Campbell Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Aquatics Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a diverse set of aquatic programs tailored to the unique needs, abilities, and interests of our residents and community program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement aquatic programs that promote physical activity, socialization, and relaxation for residents and community participants.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff during aquatic activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to promote collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Perform routine pool and hot tub maintenance, including backwashing, filtering, and adding chemicals.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits of the Aquatics Department to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Manager to complete annual maintenance of the Aquatics Department.
  • Purchase necessary supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory and accounting of expenses.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Specialists meetings and participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.
  • Current lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certifications.
  • Pool operator's certification and working knowledge of pool chemistry.
  • Ability to lift and transfer adults using safe lifting procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions:

The Aquatics Specialist works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated smoke-free residential/health care environment. Daily activities include extended standing, walking, bending, and reaching. The successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours, as well as extended hours when necessary to meet the needs of the Center.
