Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the City of Wenatchee. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain treatment and sludge processing equipment to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent.
  • Perform process control, laboratory functions, and routine maintenance of the collection system to ensure process balance.
  • Inspect, adjust, operate, and maintain various equipment, including aerated chambers, mechanical bar screens, air blowers, pumps, clarifiers, and digesters.
  • Operate and maintain sewage pump stations, clean wet wells, basins, tanks, and clarifiers.
  • Obtain wastewater samples, perform laboratory analysis, and evaluate data to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with plant, environmental, and engineering staff to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Document and maintain complete and concise operations logs and records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three years of operational experience in a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Current WA Department of Ecology Group II Wastewater Operator Certificate.
  • Must obtain a WA CDL Class B Driver License (tanker endorsement/air brake restriction removed) within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
