About the Role:This part-time (.6FTE) RN position is a dual role opportunity, with.25 FTE as a RN Clinical Educator and.35 FTE as a Perinatal Safety Specialist. As a RN Clinical Educator, you will promote excellence in clinical nursing care and contribute to the professional growth and development of nursing staff through clinical education and professional development activities. As a Perinatal Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, promoting, and supporting perinatal patient safety and quality of care initiatives and programs.
Responsibilities:- Assess, research, coordinate, and implement educational and professional development programs, services, and systems.
- Act as a role model, clinical nursing expert, change agent, mentor, and leader to the campus and CHI Health nursing division.
- Serve as a consultant for organizational, divisional, and system initiatives and program development as related to nursing practice.
- Provide clinical expertise and leadership to quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate nursing transitions to practice and ongoing professional development through support of central onboarding, clinical orientation, nurse residency, fellowships, competency assessment, and preceptor and mentor programs.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of educational tools and resources, integrating adult learning theories, organizational development principles, and system approach.
- Implement and support perinatal safety initiatives as identified by Clinical Leadership.
- Monitor clinical outcomes.
- Abstract, record, analyze, and report perinatal safety data per CommonSpirit Health guidelines.
- Assess the documentation of charts reviewed and provide feedback to clinicians.
- Encourage staff to identify and report adverse events and near-misses.
- Perform collaborative reviews of adverse occurrences and near-misses. Incorporate findings into educational efforts.
- Participate in Event Investigation Analysis (EIA).
- Coordinate and evaluate briefing, debriefing, and analysis of selected charts with healthcare team members.
- Contribute to Fetal Monitor (EFM) strip reviews and provide staff with feedback on findings.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and education.
- RN Clinical Educator: BSN required. Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of MSN program within 5 years of start date.
- Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact. Basic life support is required upon hire.
- Perinatal Safety Specialist: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required. Master's degree or higher preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years as a clinician in Women's Services.
- A minimum of 2 years of project experience in Women and Infants Perinatal Safety.
- Experience with quality improvement/process improvement techniques, project/program management experience, required.
- Current RN License in applicable State.
- Certification in one of the following: CCRN-NEO, C-EFM, RN-BC MCN, RN-BC-PERI, RNC [OB, GYN, NEONATAL], RNC-LRN, RNC-MNN, RNC-NIC, RNC-OB, C-EFM.
- BLS.
- NRP within 90 days.
$36.94 - $53.56 /hour
