RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Team, the ECE Support Specialist plays a crucial role in establishing nurturing relationships with children and assisting educators in delivering culturally relevant learning experiences that promote preschoolers' growth. This position involves maintaining appropriate child-to-teacher ratios and covering breaks to ensure seamless operations. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and program coordinators, you will help implement the ECE program's vision and ensure each child's safety, health, and developmental needs are met. Compliance with organizational policies and childcare regulations is essential.
  • Facilitates a well-organized, child-centered learning environment that is safe, engaging, and responsive to the developmental needs of each child.
  • Assists educators in the care, instruction, and guidance of children, ensuring smooth program operations.
  • Adheres to safety protocols in all aspects of the role.
  • Maintains effective communication and professional relationships with staff, parents, and external partners.
  • Supports developmental screenings and assessments, documenting observations for evaluations.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contributes to classroom upkeep, including cleaning and restocking supplies.
  • Provides emergency support as a Mandatory First Responder.
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong commitment to the mission of Adelante Mujeres and advocacy for immigrant and BIPOC communities.
  • At least one year of experience working with children aged 3-5 is preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Step 5 or higher in Oregon Registry Online (ORO) or Preschool Child Development (CDA) Certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Experience or training in supporting children with special needs is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Capable of bending, reaching, and moving heavy items safely.
  • Willingness to engage in physical activities with children, including walking and sitting on the floor.
  • Ability to respond quickly to ensure the safety of children.
  • Capacity to handle emergency situations, including providing CPR and First Aid.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completion of a Criminal Background Registry enrollment letter.
  • Current infant & child First Aid/CPR certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Current Oregon Food Handler Card (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Completion of online training in child abuse recognition and childcare health and safety.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster required, with exceptions for medical or religious reasons.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between sites.
  • Willingness to travel for training and workshops.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
  • Hourly wage: $21-$22 based on qualifications.
  • Classification: Full-time during the academic year, working 30 hours per week.
