Archaeological Field Technician

Job Summary
Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Archaeological Field Technician to support our team in Phase I archaeological field survey work for projects throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Phase I archaeological fieldwork, including pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and field data recording of soils, artifact finds, and site resources.
- Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of data using handheld GPS units; Survey123 and Field Maps App.
- Work closely with project team under the supervision of VHB archaeologists.
- Well-qualified candidates may serve as Crew Chiefs or Field Directors as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field.
- ~0-1 years of field experience with a range of field methodologies, including survey, testing, and excavation, and monitoring.
- ~6+ months of field experience preferred.
- ~ Completion of an accredited field school or equivalent experience.
- ~ Experience working as a field archaeologist.
- ~ Ability to travel to a location, walk/hike and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and ability to carry equipment and supplies.
