About the Position

VHB's Atlanta office is seeking an experienced Archaeologist to join our Environmental Services Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting and supervising archaeological surveys, preparing and reviewing resource assessment reports, and evaluating archaeological resources for various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Phase I, II, and III archaeological investigations and site monitoring
  • Prepare technical reports assessing site integrity, significance, and National Register of Historic Places eligibility
  • Develop geographic maps using ArcGIS Pro and ESRI software
  • Conduct archival and historical background research
  • Supervise technical and field survey personnel and mentor junior staff
  • Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including GPS data collection
  • Conduct artifact analysis and assist in curation efforts
  • Coordinate regulatory compliance efforts with federal, state, and private entities
  • Support and build clientele relationships
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior's professional standards for archaeology
  • Member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) or eligible for enrollment
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in cultural resource management
  • 1-3 years of field experience with various field methodologies
  • Ability to travel, walk/hike, and conduct fieldwork in inclement weather or rugged terrain
  • Valid driver's license
