Job Summary:

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse I (Bilingual Spanish) at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. You will work in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in your work habits and clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to patients, including administering medications, performing routine diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, height, weight, and other essential information, and document it accurately.
  • Prepare and position patients for procedures, and assist with physical examinations.
  • Administer topical or aerosol medication as ordered, and provide therapeutic care as prescribed by physicians.
  • Transport patients to and from designated areas, and route specimens to the laboratory.
  • Participate in development of nursing care plans, and maintain department logs and protocol manuals.
  • Assist with proctological procedures, and restrain or support patients during procedures.
  • Perform EKGs, and assist patients with ambulation and exercises.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, and participate in special projects and studies.
  • Demonstrate safety procedures, and coordinate and monitor activities within the module.
  • Function as a team leader, and participate in department meetings.
  • Train and orient new staff to equipment, general duties, and procedures.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities as directed.

Requirements:

  • Zero to one year of LVN experience.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required.

Notes:

  • This is an on-call position; days and hours may vary.
  • Travel includes all Optometry service area locations and offsite trainings.
  • Must successfully pass or have passed the bilingual test within the last twelve months or be active in the QBS program.
