Job SummaryThe Licensed Vocational Nurse will be responsible for providing routine daily nursing care to residents in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards. This includes treating each resident with kindness, dignity, and respect, and communicating effectively with residents, family members, visitors, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy
- Check vital signs, dress wounds, insert catheters, and listen to residents and their families
- Address questions and concerns of residents, perform accurate and detailed charting of resident progress notes, and timely report any changes in resident condition to the nurse supervisor
- Assist and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), ensure equipment is in good operating order, and monitor residents at risk for falls
- Collect lab samples, abide by all facility policies and procedures, and follow Infection and Control policies
- Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately, and attend annual facility in-service training programs
- Completion of LVN training from an accredited school or college
- Valid LVN license in good standing
- Valid CPR and BLS card
- IV Certification is a plus
- Minimum of 1 year of skilled nursing experience preferred
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to use a computer or tablet to enter resident data
The Licensed Vocational Nurse may encounter frequent interruptions, be involved with residents, family, and government agencies, and be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times. They may be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking, or air contaminants, and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
The COVID-19 vaccine is required for this position.
