Job Summary:

The Perioperative Services Associate plays a vital role in the University Hospital, Newark NJ, as a member of the Perioperative Service/Surgical Team. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient and safe patient care through effective operating room turnover, well-maintained supplies, instruments, and equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent team collaboration, communication, and participate in process and performance improvements activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment, adhering to Infection Control Mandates and regulatory agency standards.
• Collaborate with the Surgical Team to achieve efficient patient care and process improvements.
• Participate in training and education to stay up-to-date on Joint Commission Safety Alerts and mandates.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of hospital work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• CPR certification required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to carry out the duties of the position.
• Prior supervisory experience is an asset.
• Ability to work under pressure and stress for prolonged periods, with the capacity to accept frequent interruptions from multiple sources.
