Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Coordinator to join our Resident Services Office team at Sherman Associates. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support, monitoring security cameras, and responding to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor CCTV security cameras and respond to unusual activity
  • Provide administrative support to the Resident Services Office, including dispatching staff on patrols and completing service and incident reports
  • Work with emergency personnel, residents, and the public to resolve problems and provide assistance
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and prepare reports as necessary
  • Perform security inspections and prepare reports, issuing security violation citations as required
  • Maintain records and advise senior management of deficiencies and remedial efforts
  • Assist in the implementation and administration of automated security systems
  • Perform miscellaneous paperwork and notify the Resident Services Administrator of inspections and maintenance issues
Requirements
  • 2-5 years of related customer service experience, ideally in a security and safety role
  • Flexible schedule availability, including overnight, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer skills, including typing 40+ wpm and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer service experience, including working with culturally diverse customers
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Proven discretionary judgment and ability to resolve conflict issues
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in Somali, Oromo, and Amharic languages
  • Military, law enforcement, or related private security experience
Work Environment

This position operates in a residential housing and office setting, with a moderate noise level. The employee may be exposed to hazards, including cuts, slipping, tripping, falls, and burns.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Additional Screening Requirements
  • Successful completion of pre-employment strength test or CRT examination
  • Must meet criminal background screening requirements, including MN statute 299C.67 to 299C.71 (Kari Koskinen Background)
