Job Title: Local Delivery Driver

At Airgas, we are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Delivery Driver to join our team. As a Local Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive truck over established route to deliver and sell products while performing the following duties:
  • Deliver gasses and hard goods to customer's places of business
  • Perform any non-route delivery(s) necessary to provide customers with product
  • Write customer orders and instructions
  • Record sales or deliveries information on daily sales or delivery records
  • Listen to and resolve service complaints
  • Issue sales promotion materials to customers
  • Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise
  • Load truck
  • Issue or obtain customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery
  • Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies utilizing Airgas forms and ensure all safety items are in good working order
  • Comply with all company policies and meets DOT requirements
  • Assist inside the retail branch, servicing customers at dock, front counter and over the phone
  • Attend safety meetings as scheduled before, during or after daily shifts
  • Assist with other driver's scheduled duties as needed
Requirements:
  • Must have one year of Class A or B CDL driving experience or have graduated from an accredited driving school
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement
  • At least one full year of experience driving a Class A or B vehicle under DOT requirements
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Current Medical Examiner's Card
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to routinely lift lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary
