Job Title: Local Delivery Driver

Airgas is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Local Delivery Driver to join our team. As a Local Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for delivering compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive truck over established route to deliver and sell products while performing various duties.
  • Perform non-route deliveries as necessary to provide customers with product.
  • Write customer orders and instructions.
  • Record sales or deliveries information on daily sales or delivery records.
  • Listen to and resolve service complaints.
  • Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
  • Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
  • Issue or obtain customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies utilizing Airgas forms and ensure all safety items are in good working order.
  • Comply with all company policies and meet DOT requirements.
  • Assist inside the retail branch, servicing customers at dock, front counter and over the phone.
  • Attend safety meetings as scheduled before, during or after daily shifts.
  • Assist with other driver's scheduled duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must have one year of Class A or B CDL driving experience or have graduated from an accredited driving school.
  • Class A or B CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
  • At least one full year of experience driving a Class A or B vehicle under DOT requirements.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Current Medical Examiner's Card.
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
  • Ability to routinely lift lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.
