Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to support our back-office operations at JWCH Institute in Vermont. The ideal candidate will assist in the provision of direct patient care, perform routine patient care procedures, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure they are comfortable and prepared for medical procedures.
  2. Obtain and record vital signs, patient history, and chief complaints accurately.
  3. Provide patients with clear and concise instructions for medications, treatments, and post-procedure care.
  4. Perform routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed health care personnel following established clinic policies and procedures.
  5. Collect and record patient data, including height, weight, BMI, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
  6. Perform lab tests, including finger sticks, after appropriate training and verification of competency.
  7. Administer immunizations and medications per provider's order.
  8. Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control.
  9. Provide basic health information and education to patients.
  10. Work with patients on self-management goals.
  11. Perform routine clerical functions, including scheduling appointments and filing patient records.
Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant school with a current MA certificate.
  3. Verification of appropriate hours in approved Medical Assistant course to perform venipuncture.
  4. Current BLS certificate from the American Heart Association.
  5. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  6. Two years' experience in an ambulatory clinic preferred.
  7. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
