Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnograph Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Polysomnograph Technologist, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a clinician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Patient Interviews and Gather Information

Interview patients and gather patient history, physical information, medications, procedure requests, and study protocols to ensure accurate and comprehensive testing.

Assess Patient Conditions and Provide Education

Identify and assess any signs, symptoms, special factors, and co-morbid conditions, and provide patient education to ease apprehension and produce comfort and cooperation.

Prepare and Calibrate Equipment

Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and ensure accurate results.

Document Observations and Results

Document routine observations, including sleep stages, clinical events, procedural changes, and other significant events to facilitate interpretation and scoring of polysomnography results.

Implement Interventions and Maintain Equipment

Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention, and disinfect and perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to established protocols.

Comply with Safety and Infection Control Protocols

Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding safety and infection control issues.

Qualifications
  • Education and Certifications

Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Current License to practice as a Polysomnography Technologist in New York State, and Current Basic Life Support Professional Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

Experience

1-3 years of relevant experience required.
