Position Overview
The Sleep Study Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough polysomnographic assessments, evaluations, and necessary interventions under the supervision of a healthcare professional. This role includes the upkeep and sanitation of equipment, as well as maintaining essential documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews to collect medical history, physical details, medication lists, and study protocols.
- Recognize and evaluate any symptoms, special considerations, and co-existing conditions.
- Educate patients about procedures, addressing concerns to promote comfort and cooperation.
- Prepare and calibrate testing equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Record routine observations, including sleep cycles, clinical occurrences, procedural modifications, and other significant events to aid in the interpretation and scoring of polysomnography results.
- Exhibit knowledge and skills necessary for providing age-appropriate care in the assessment, treatment, and education of patients across all age groups.
- Clean and perform preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Adhere to relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures concerning safety and infection control.
- Implement necessary interventions for patient safety and therapeutic measures, such as continuous bi-level positive airway pressure and oxygen administration.
- Carry out additional related duties as required, with all responsibilities considered essential functions of the role.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
- Current licensure as a Polysomnograph Technologist in New York State and Basic Life Support Professional Certification are mandatory, along with any specialized certifications as necessary.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of pertinent experience is required.
Compensation Information
The salary range for this position is $43.43-$45.32 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation for a successful candidate at the time of this job posting and may be subject to change. Various factors, including location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity, may influence the final salary determination.
