Key Responsibilities- Engine Room Operations: Perform routine periodic maintenance on main engines and gears, pumps, motors, plumbing, deck machinery, and auxiliary generator units.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the vessel's engine room and equipment are in good working condition.
- Log Maintenance and Repairs: Log all maintenance and repairs in an electronic maintenance tracking program.
- Monitor and Record Equipment Condition: Monitor and record the operating condition of engine room equipment.
- Keep Engine Room Clean and Ready: Maintain the engine room in a clean and ready state at all times.
- Assist in Loading Supplies: Assist in loading supplies as needed.
- General Cleanup: Perform general cleanup tasks on tugs and barges.
- Operate Firefighting and Lifesaving Equipment: Operate all firefighting and lifesaving equipment aboard.
- Valid TWIC: Possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Valid STCW Endorsement: Hold a valid STCW endorsement on the Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
- Marine Diesel Experience: Have at least two years of previous work experience on marine diesels.
- Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to Work Independently: Be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
- Exposure to Weather Conditions: Be exposed to all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, and heavy seas.
- Work at Heights: Be able to work at heights as necessary.
