Job Overview

At ABO Plasma, we are seeking a highly skilled Donor Screener to join our team. As a Donor Screener, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and suitability of plasma donors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer health history questionnaires to new and repeat donors, ensuring accurate and thorough assessments.
  • Manage donor flow throughout the center, maintaining a smooth and efficient process.
  • Communicate delays and issues to center management, nurses, and other necessary parties, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Document activities and maintain accurate records, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Set up and operate instruments used for testing donor vitals and other station equipment, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Assess donor weight and vital records, providing critical information for donor suitability.
  • Ensure the area is clean and maintained according to regulations, upholding high standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Refill supplies and clean machines/stations at the conclusion of the shift, maintaining a well-organized and efficient environment.
  • Answer donor inquiries, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety rules, as stated in the Employee Handbook and as otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to team success.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with proof of education.
  • Strong customer service skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional donor experiences.
  • Proficiency in English, with legible handwriting and the ability to read, write, and speak effectively.
  • Current CPR certification, with the ability to maintain certification.
  • Proficiency with computer entry, with the ability to accurately and efficiently manage data.
  • May be required to travel for training, with a willingness to adapt to new environments and situations.
  • Bilingualism in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to talk and hear, with regular use of hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls. Vision abilities include close vision, with the ability to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb, and balance. Physical ability to operate equipment used in screening and donor floor areas, with the ability to lift, tug, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to read while standing or sitting in front of a computer for short periods of time.

Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other conditions are common to a donor center. Personal protective equipment, such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves, are required to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
