Job Summary

To provide high-quality respiratory care to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders, evaluating and administering therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, and consulting with physicians to develop and modify patient care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients through interviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests to determine respiratory therapy needs.
  • Operate and monitor respiratory equipment, including ventilators, medical gas delivery apparatus, and aerosol devices.
  • Administer medical gases, humidification, aerosols, and respiratory medications, and maintain clearance of patient airways.
  • Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
  • Educate patients and family members on ventilator use, breathing exercises, and medication use.
  • Inspect, sanitize, test, and maintain respiratory equipment, and maintain applicable records and documentation.
Requirements
  • Meet National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) registration requirements.
  • Hold Mississippi licensure, NBRC Certification (CRT), and NBRC Registration (RRT).
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment

Occasional exposure to unpleasant physical environments, including high noise levels and biohazardous conditions. Frequent handling of potentially dangerous equipment and constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality.
