Position Summary
The Food Packaging Specialist plays a crucial role in the food assembly process, ensuring compliance with Open Hand's food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines. This position operates within a refrigerated environment maintained at 35 degrees.
Supervisory Duties
No supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing picking areas and guarantee that all meal packages are accurately selected and assembled.
- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices as outlined by Open Hand.
- Quickly and accurately read small print on meal packages and documentation.
- Ensure that all finished meal packages are correctly labeled and distributed.
- Support the cleaning and sanitization of the workspace.
- Package supplementary meal items as necessary.
- Timely return of all required documentation to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all safety protocols, regulations, company policies, and attendance guidelines set by Open Hand.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work in a cooler environment at 35 degrees.
- Proficient in reading small fonts quickly and accurately.
- Commitment to maintaining accuracy with no picking errors.
- Ability to complete tasks promptly and communicate progress effectively.
- Consistently maintain a positive attitude and approach to work.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred, along with adequate math and reading skills. Experience in a warehouse or cold storage setting is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Must be capable of lifting at least 30 pounds and standing for extended periods.
- Work in a refrigerated environment (approximately 35 degrees) and wear additional layers for comfort.
Drug-Free Workplace
Open Hand maintains a drug-free and substance-free work environment. Random drug testing may be conducted by an external, neutral tester on all employees. Any suspected use of drugs or reporting to work under the influence of alcohol may result in immediate termination.
