Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Language and Communication Instructional Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team at Bellefaire JCB. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support to Speech and Language Pathologists in delivering group speech therapy lessons and instructing students in the operation and use of communication equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize evidence-based speech and language methods to support students in academic settings.
  • Participate in regular training to enhance comprehension and expression of the Visual Immersion System.
  • Assist in teaching students in areas such as comprehension, reading, mathematics, receptive, expressive, and social pragmatic language, activities of daily living, science, and social studies.
  • Help develop and implement lesson plans and curriculum that align with IEP and/or ISP goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of instructional materials, including visual supports for instruction, expression, and organization.
  • Teach and model pro-social, mediation, self-regulation, self-management, and self-advocacy skills.
  • Collect and record academic, speech, and behavioral data to contribute to clinical records.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive support for students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field (Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Special Education, etc.) or related experience.
  • Experience working with children with autism preferred.
  • Passion for helping others and making a positive impact in the lives of students with autism.
  • Basic knowledge of child and adolescent development, human sexuality, family dysfunction, psychology, sociology, behavior theory, and autism.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with emotional control and professionalism.
