Job Title: Milieu Counselor

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is seeking a skilled Milieu Counselor to join our team in the Adolescent Psychiatry department. As a Milieu Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and structured environment for patients in crisis, while also attending to their individual needs.

Job Summary:

The Milieu Counselor will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide a supportive and therapeutic environment for adolescents with mental health needs. This role requires a strong understanding of human services, behavioral health, and psychiatric experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs) and maintain a safe and structured environment.
  • Lead or co-lead groups, perform safety checks, and conduct 1:1 meetings with patients.
  • Accurately chart patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and weight.
  • Notify the RN of any changes in vital signs and assist patients with maintaining nutritional and hydration needs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the charge RN.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; B.A, B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior human services, behavioral, or psychiatric experience strongly preferred.
  • Inpatient psychiatric experience is preferred.
