Position Overview:
As a Driver/Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of the individuals we serve within our community-based Day Program. This role is ideal for those seeking a fulfilling work environment alongside dedicated colleagues.
- Provide safe and dependable transportation for individuals to and from their residences, day centers, agency programs, events, and appointments.
- Assist with safety measures during boarding and disembarking at all locations.
- Utilize proper techniques for lifting and transferring individuals, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and perform daily upkeep of the transportation vehicle.
- Support staff in monitoring participants and engage in activities, meals, care, and general assistance at the day center.
- Assist individuals with daily living tasks, including personal hygiene and bathroom support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum age of 18.
- Previous experience in van driving is preferred.
- At least one year of experience transporting older adults or individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly older adults.
- Valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, and insurance are required.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- A dependable and responsible demeanor with a compassionate approach is essential.
- A strong commitment to quality in all aspects of your work.
