About the Role:
The Scrub Technician is a vital member of the perioperative team, responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room environment, equipment, and instrumentation for surgical procedures.
- Utilize supplies and equipment effectively to maintain a sterile and organized workspace.
- Collaborate with the circulating RN and other team members to ensure seamless execution of surgical plans.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of scrub experience required.
- Licensed Surgical Technologist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
- Certification in Surgical Technology required.
- BLS certification required.
Working Conditions:
The Scrub Technician works in a well-lighted and ventilated office/clinical setting, subject to frequent interruptions and long hours. The role requires the ability to cope with mental and emotional stress, operate office machines safely, and push patients on stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds from one area to another.
Physical Demands:
- Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Cope with the mental and emotional stress associated with this position.
- Operate office machines safely and in accordance with hospital Safety Standards.
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of scrub experience. A licensed Surgical Technologist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions and certification in Surgical Technology are also required.
