We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Campus Safety Patrol team at the Academy of Art University. As a Lead Campus Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Drive daily compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct nightly patrol strategy sessions to ensure effective coverage.
- Ensure Patrol Officers are educated on the Campus Safety Manual and provide ongoing training and support.
- Drive foot patrol duties and assignments to maintain a visible presence on campus.
- Institute directives to enhance building check metrics and improve overall safety and security.
- Provide break coverage to Campus Hosts and fellow Patrol Officers as needed.
- Drive in-service training and participate in crime prevention events to promote a safe and secure environment.
- Maintain key control of all AAU structures and report any building maintenance issues to the appropriate departments.
- Foster strategies with Campus Safety Dispatchers to ensure effective communication and response.
- Develop crime prevention strategies in partnership with the Associate Director to proactively address potential safety concerns.
- Collaborate with local Police, Fire, and EMS agencies to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
- Maintain strong knowledge of AAU policies and procedures and communicate information to visitors, students, faculty, and staff members.
- Uphold an understanding of the campus layout, including academic and residential housing buildings, to effectively respond to incidents.
- Support students with questions about Academy procedures, such as bus schedules, building locations, and class schedules.
- Assist with special event coverage to ensure a safe and secure environment for all attendees.
- Operate Academy and/or rental vehicle(s) while completing job duties and observe all applicable federal and state motor vehicle laws.
- Possess an active California Guard Card.
- Have a valid California driver's license and be insurable under the Academy's provider.
- Must be able to pass a driving test.
- A minimum of two years Supervisory experience.
- Effectively communicate policies and safety procedures to a broad population.
- Use sound judgment in difficult situations and solve problems in an effective manner.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service to everyone while performing assigned duties.
- Manage time well and be able to prioritize competing tasks.
- Be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk several city blocks at a time.
- Competitive hourly rate of $26.00.
- Full-time position with a 4-day workweek and 10-hour shifts.
- Additional $1.00 shift differential for hours worked between 11:00 pm and 6:59 am.
- Full-time employees receive health insurance, 401k options, paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick leave, and a commuter benefit program.
- Full-time employees also have access to our swimming pool, fitness center, and recreational programs, including NCAA Division II events.
