Position Overview

The Vascular Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting physicians during various procedures within the realm of Interventional Radiology and Vascular/Cardiac surgery. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting pre and post-procedure patient evaluations, providing patient education, and assisting with patient care within the defined scope of practice, including inventory management (receiving, organizing, and restocking supplies).
  • Assisting physicians in endovascular and Cardiac/Cardiology procedures, which involves setting up sterile environments, positioning and preparing patients, circulating and scrubbing to aid in instrument handling, and operating and monitoring necessary equipment.
  • Operating fluoroscopic equipment, lasers, and other devices related to interventional vascular and cardiac procedures while adhering to radiation safety regulations.
  • Preparing radiopaque materials for physician administration and drawing up contrast for injections.
  • Accurately completing documentation, including procedure records, billing, supplies used, and radiation exposure logs.
  • Assisting with patient positioning and transfers.
  • Conducting daily checks on all equipment used in patient care to ensure functionality and availability of supplies.
  • Providing training and serving as a mentor for new technologists, physicians, nurses, and students, acting as a role model.
  • Being available for off-shift call requirements based on departmental needs and supporting staffing in other areas as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience in vascular procedures.
Educational Background
  • High School Diploma required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Radiology or Vascular Program.
Licensure and Certification
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiology Technologist Program; NJ DEP license required upon hire.
Work Schedule
  • Typical hours are from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with on-call responsibilities.
