Position OverviewThe Neuro Imaging Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the technological demands of intricate neurosurgery and neurologic diagnostic and intervention procedures within the Neuro lab and hybrid surgical suite. This position involves hands-on engagement with various imaging and navigation systems, including Brain Lab, Stealth, Fusion, Vision Sense, and VTI, which assist surgeons during complex head and spine operations, as well as ultrasound and injector technologies for vascular and neurologic diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities- Operate radiology equipment using appropriate techniques and patient positioning to generate high-quality images.
- Maintain radiology equipment, troubleshoot service issues, and communicate any concerns to incoming staff.
- Engage with patients, establishing trust and ensuring their comfort while explaining procedures prior to examinations.
- Monitor patient status, safety, and well-being throughout the procedure, verifying patient identity and preparing the room before their arrival.
- Assist radiologists and medical professionals in executing procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Respond to emergency situations following departmental and hospital policies, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Conduct quality assurance testing in line with section protocols.
- Stay updated with advancements in technology and procedures relevant to the role.
- Support neurosurgery and ENT operating room cases utilizing advanced imaging systems.
- Perform registration routines intraoperatively, merging mapping with previous scans to finalize the imaging plan.
- Manage data storage and maintain a repository for imaging scans, videos, and other essential documentation.
- Assist surgeons with technical issues related to imaging systems during procedures.
Experience: 0-2 years in a similar role, with experience in assisting physicians during neurovascular interventions.
Education: High School/GED and an Associate's degree from an AMA-approved program for Diagnostic Radiology.
Licenses/Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Registry Radiology Tech license, and NJ Radiology Tech License are required.
Skills and Competencies- Proficient in various imaging, ultrasound, and neuro-navigation systems.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
