General Overview:
The Certified Ultrasound Specialist reports to the Immediate Supervisor and utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to assess anatomical structures and potential related pathologies. This role embodies the core values and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivers comprehensive Diagnostic Medical Sonography services in accordance with established protocols. Demonstrates proficiency in all procedures relevant to the Scope of Practice, tailored to the diverse age groups of patients, including: Neonate, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. *
- Facilitates ultrasound guidance and support to Radiologists and/or Staff Physicians during sterile invasive interventions. *
- Ensures high-quality examinations by gathering essential medical histories and discussing findings with the Radiologist as necessary. *
- Conducts precise imaging by employing appropriate immobilization techniques, technical parameters, and reviewing images with the Radiologist prior to patient discharge, if clinically warranted. *
- Assists in the procurement and management of pharmaceuticals, sterile and non-sterile supplies, and equipment. Directs special requests to the Lead Sonographer as needed. Maintains cleanliness, sterilization, stocking, and preparation of the examination room between patients.
- Engages with fellow Care Partners, Patients, Family Members, Nursing Staff, and Physicians regarding their Physicians' orders, providing explanations of procedures, expected wait times, and clarifications for any delays.
Educational Background:
- Associate's degree, ADN, or equivalent from a Two-Year College is required.
- At least one (1) year of relevant experience is required.
- Must be currently registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OBGYN or AB only (Breast (BR) certification earned prior to 06/30/2010 is acceptable); or currently registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Sonography (ARRT)(S) in RT(S), RT(VS), RVT, or RVS (also known as RCVT) upon hire.
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
