Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Respiratory Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive therapeutic respiratory care in both acute and critical care settings. This role requires a deep understanding of respiratory conditions and the application of appropriate therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers all necessary therapeutic respiratory procedures in accordance with established protocols. Continuously assesses the effectiveness of treatments and suggests modifications as needed. Maintains proficiency in all procedures relevant to the diverse patient population.
  • Demonstrates expertise in critical care procedures and protocols, including intubation, ventilator management, and emergency equipment operation.
  • Skilled in utilizing, instructing others, and troubleshooting various cardiopulmonary devices, such as mechanical ventilators and blood gas analyzers. Ensures all equipment is cleaned, assembled, and ready for patient use, while also monitoring and maintaining equipment integrity.
  • Contributes to the development of patient care plans through thorough assessments and ongoing evaluations related to respiratory care. Collaborates with healthcare team members to establish mutually agreed-upon treatment goals.
  • Completes all assigned tasks by the end of the shift, including documentation and equipment processing, to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
  • Proficient in performing bedside ECG tests, recognizing arrhythmias, and communicating findings effectively. Participates as a key member of the emergency response team.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate logs and inventory checks as necessary.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and may engage in related projects.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Familiar with fire safety and emergency procedures relevant to the workplace.
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of an AMA Approved Respiratory Therapy Program is preferred.
Experience:
  • 0 - 1 year of relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • State of Florida Certification (TT) or Registration (RT) is required upon hire.
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications from The American Heart Association are required upon hire.
  • PALS certification from The American Heart Association is highly preferred upon hire; required during clinical orientation.
  • NRP certification from The American Heart Association or American Academy of Pediatrics is highly preferred upon hire; required within 90 days of hire.
