Job Summary:

JobsQuest is seeking a skilled Water Utility Service Operator - Grade II to join our team. As a Water Utility Service Operator - Grade II, you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing water mains and service lines. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the operation of water system and perform routine water quality tests.
  • Perform water utility preparatory and clean-up work, and assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water transmission/distribution systems.
  • Operate equipment used in work on water transmission/distribution systems and in the inspection of grease control devices and wastewater sampling.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are available, assembled, and in proper working order.
Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License (obtaining a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months).
  • Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Grade II certification.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe or track hoe).
  • Willingness to work off-duty and/or holiday hours.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily performed at outdoor worksites such as roadways and construction sites. Work may involve using various hand tools such as hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, and power tools such as saws, pumps, drills and Heavy Equipment such as back hoes, excavators, etc. May be exposed to weather conditions, such as extreme hot or cold temperatures, or other potentially hazardous conditions such as near roadway traffic or near animal or wildlife such as snakes, rodents, etc.

Physical Demands:

Job involves significant and concerted physical exertion required for regular prolonged periods of carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, or walking. May involve occasional lifting of items or objects weighing up to 75 lbs. Work involves physical ability necessary to visually inspecting fine details in order to identify similarities and differences in colors, shapes, textures or physical appearance associated with job-related objects or materials.
