Job Title: Water Utility Operations Superintendent

Job Summary:

The Water Utility Operations Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and control of electrical systems, water treatment facilities, and other infrastructure. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as expertise in water utility engineering, operation, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and implement installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, water treatment facilities, pumps, boosters, pressure regulating devices, Hydro-generation, geothermal, and chlorinating equipment.
  • Supervise subordinate administration staff and section supervisors, ensuring effective management and coordination of construction and operation of production and treatment facilities.
  • Manage and coordinate emergency operational conditions, including responding to non-normal working hour emergencies.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for water utility operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in engineering, physical sciences, business administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of journey-level experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience, in water utility engineering, operation, construction management, and maintenance.
  • Valid California Class "C" driver's license.
  • Valid California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Water Distribution Operator Grade 3 certificate.
  • Valid SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade 4 certificate.
  • Ability to obtain a valid SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade 5 certificate within 36 months of appointment.
