Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Test Specialist is responsible for conducting validation and acceptance assessments of electrical control panels within a production setting. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to interpret wiring schematics and mechanical blueprints. A solid understanding of electrical control panels and wiring is essential, along with skills in troubleshooting and rectifying defects. The role may involve occasional travel to client sites, which could include overnight stays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Panel Designers and System Engineers
  • Conduct visual inspections
  • Ensure quality of completed panel assemblies
  • Perform point-to-point wiring validation
  • Execute Power Up tests (line voltages up to 480 VAC 3PH)
  • Upload PLC programs
  • Connect field devices such as motors, sensors, and switches
  • Conduct system tests to verify device and system functionality
  • Document the finished panel with photographs, update engineering drawings to reflect 'as-built' conditions, and prepare engineering change orders
  • Record test results and revise test procedures as necessary
  • Provide manufacturing support as needed
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical theory and the operation of electrical components
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Operate a pallet jack when required
  • Technical Proficiencies: Skilled in Excel, Word, PDF creation, digital camera usage, and cloud-based file management

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in electrical testing within a manufacturing context, preferably with electrical control panels
  • Familiarity with UL508A and IPC A620 standards is preferred
  • Experience with standard testing tools, including multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Comprehensive training in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures is required
