Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Testing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our High Voltage Maintenance (HVM) team, you will be responsible for performing electrical testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Conduct tests on circuit breakers, switchgear, and motor control centers to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Install, inspect, and test busduct systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing to ensure they are functioning within acceptable limits.
  • Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot testing.
  • Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Candidates with NETA Level 2 certification or above required or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment, periodic, and random drug screenings.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work.
  • Must be available for out-of-town travel at a minimum of 25% or 12-15 weeks per year.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100-pound test sets.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical.
  • Graduate of Electrical Technical School.
  • Military equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. – 45 Ibs.).
  • Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.).
  • Frequent Standing.
  • Frequent kneeling / crawling / stooping.
  • Frequent bending / twisting.
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).

Environmental Demands

  • Extreme cold (below 32*).
  • Extreme heat (above 100*).
  • Noise Level (Medium / High need to shout to be heard).
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors).
  • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather).

Travel Time Required

  • 25%
