About the Role

We are seeking a Materials Sourcing Expert to join our team at Flex Tek. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a critical role in sourcing materials and services that meet our business needs.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

  • Evaluate BOMs and determine purchase requirements for goods and services.
  • Consult BOMs, technical data, prints, catalogs, previous history, and RFQs to obtain price and specifications.
  • Make make-buy decisions based on supplier evaluation and analysis.
  • Find the best product for the most competitive price from approved vendors.
  • Ensure that all acquired goods and services meet contract, BOM, requisition, and other relevant requirements.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery terms with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Department to align on price, delivery, Terms and Conditions, payment terms, etc.
  • Target purchase prices to be equal or less than standard and quote prices.
  • FLOW DOWN ALL PRICING, QUANTITY, TECHNICAL DATA, AND PERTINENT INFORMATION TO VENDOR
  • Award purchase orders and send them along with all technical data and pertinent information to vendors.
  • Compute total purchase prices and compare them to standard and quote prices.
  • Schedule and expedite purchase order deliveries.
  • Manage and report purchasing metrics.
  • Consult with Engineering, Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing when questions arise.
  • Work with Quality on Vendor non-conformance and returns.
  • Work with Quality, Production, and Planning on scrap reconciliation and purchase accordingly.
  • Communicate with vendors, which may require on-site visits.
  • Interview and recommend potential vendors.
  • New vendor onboarding, which may require onsite visits.
  • Assist the Estimating Department in project bidding.
  • Review material shortage reports and purchase accordingly.
  • Reduce liability/financial exposure at the supply base.
  • Collaborate with Production and Material Planning to ensure on-time starts.
  • Collaborate with Production and Material Planning to ensure supplier on-time delivery performance.
