This role is situated within the Department of Transportation, specifically in the Highways Division.
Compensation:
Monthly salary ranges from $5,076 to $6,177 (SR-22, Step D to I).
Important Note:
Salary offers will be determined based on funding availability, the qualifications of the applicant, and other pertinent factors.
Role Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be tasked with performing analyses and contributing to the development, execution, and upkeep of the Highways accounting framework, ensuring alignment with fiscal oversight, recordkeeping, reporting requirements, and statewide accounting standards. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the creation, revision, and maintenance of the accounting procedures manual pertinent to the Highways accounting system.
Key Duties Include:
1. Evaluating and classifying financial data for budgeting and management objectives.
2. Conducting investigative studies to assess and analyze fiscal and reporting necessities across all management tiers.
3. Analyzing accounting and financial reporting stipulations.
4. Preparing system documentation, which encompasses operational procedures.
5. Facilitating user training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution, including a minimum of twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
Professional Experience in Accounting:
A minimum of two and a half years of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience, which may encompass teaching accounting at the university level.
Systems Accounting Experience:
At least one year of experience in systems accounting, which may include:
- Participation as a team member in the development and/or implementation of an integrated accounting system.
- Engagement in significant analysis of existing accounting procedures and operations, leading to the development and/or implementation of enhancements for an integrated system.
- Responsibility for or involvement in the maintenance and control of an accounting system through the analysis and resolution of accounting challenges via systems improvements and modifications.
