Position Summary:
The University System of New Hampshire is inviting applications for a Research Faculty role at the Assistant Research Scientist level, focusing on the domains of forest ecosystem studies, ecohydrology, and biogeochemical processes.
The ideal candidate will engage in pioneering research concerning forest ecology, biogeochemistry, carbon dynamics, plant-soil relationships, and ecohydrology, while also pursuing external funding opportunities to enhance their research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement research initiatives pertaining to temperate forest ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles, carbon dynamics, plant-soil relationships, and ecohydrology.
- Conduct field investigations, gather data, and perform laboratory analyses.
- Analyze and interpret research data, contributing to the formulation of quantitative models for forest carbon and water cycles.
- Prepare and disseminate research findings through publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Effectively communicate research results at conferences and other academic gatherings.
- Manage laboratory facilities and resources.
- Obtain external funding by acting as principal investigator or co-investigator on proposals submitted to governmental or non-governmental funding bodies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biogeochemistry, Ecohydrology, or a closely related discipline, along with a minimum of five years of experience in conducting research in relevant fields.
Preferred qualifications include proficiency in utilizing stable isotopes, sapflow sensors, dendrometer bands, and quantitative assessment of soil carbon and nitrogen reserves.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong history of publishing in esteemed scientific journals and securing external funding to support their research endeavors.
