Position Overview

ECS Limited is seeking a qualified Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Specialty Technician III to enhance our operational capabilities. This role involves engaging in a range of intricate projects, executing field evaluations and inspections, and potentially conducting both destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) or non-destructive examination (NDE) on steel materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Operations: Carry out evaluations, testing, inspections, and sampling of diverse construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel; Perform tasks in alignment with project specifications under the supervision of senior technicians and project managers; Inspections may also take place in fabrication settings or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels.
  • Testing Methodologies: Execute routine assessments of structural and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, utilizing various techniques and testing apparatus in accordance with industry standards for documentation and compliance; Testing may encompass ground penetrating radar (GPR) structural surveys, material verification, and corrosion assessments.
  • Data Management: Conduct calculations and data analysis based on sampling, test outcomes, and inspections; Participate in drafting and administrative tasks as necessary; Ensure the organization of field equipment and report any damaged or missing items to the supervisor.
  • Communication Skills: Maintain consistent communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers, updating the team on site condition changes and additional testing requests; Attend project meetings as required; Relay test results to the project team and provide technical guidance to resolve issues.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training on ECS methodologies for project evaluations, inspections, and testing; Accurately document findings in line with accepted engineering practices; Mentor junior technicians as they advance in their careers.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of ASNT NDT Level II certification(s) and at least 2 additional advanced industry certifications from recognized authorities.
  • Current pursuit of or capability to obtain maximum certifications in the specified categories.
  • Ability to carry weight multiple times daily or occasionally lift up to 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required.
  • Must provide suitable transportation for job site use.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
  • Thorough understanding of heavy construction safety practices and procedures.
  • Capability to work at heights.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
  • High-level ability to interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Basic familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • If focused on NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment is required.
