Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Inspector is tasked with executing inspection activities on both in-process and finished components, focusing on dimensional and visual assessments. This role encompasses reviewing all relevant documentation associated with the product. Key inspection operations include Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, Outside Processing, and Assembly. The Inspector will also validate First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 for precision and thoroughness. Familiarity with hand tools and measurement techniques is essential, along with proficiency in blueprint interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Inspections will be conducted at supplier locations designated by the end customer.


Part-Time Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of aerospace machined parts.
  • Verify supplier's FAIs in compliance with AS9102.
  • Utilize hand measurement tools effectively.
  • Understand the CMM Inspection process (CMM Programming knowledge is not mandatory).
  • Apply GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5).
  • Interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Perform final and receiving inspections, including dimensional, visual, surface finish, and assembly evaluations.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components.
  • Familiarity with FAIs as per AS9102.
  • Proficient in using hand measurement tools.
  • Understanding of the CMM Inspection process.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience in final and receiving inspections.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical inspections.
  • Familiarity with IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec inspection standards, such as IPC-600 or IPC-610.

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Fluency in English, both reading and writing.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Independent decision-making capabilities and excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Excel; passing an Excel assessment is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a quality inspector, technician, or engineer.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience in inspection tasks, including FAIs, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach.
  • Any combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Prior experience with Quality inspection tools and methodologies, including RCCA and problem-solving skills, is advantageous.

Compensation: $25 - $40 per hour. Please note that this salary range serves as a general guideline. Factors such as position responsibilities, candidate experience, education, key skills, internal equity, and market considerations will be taken into account when extending an offer.
