Position Overview:
The Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the distribution center within the Human Resources division. This role involves collaborating with the HR team on daily tasks as directed by the HR Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all distribution center personnel; assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
2. Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies.
3. Participate in the establishment of departmental goals, objectives, and projects.
4. Oversee the performance appraisal process within the distribution center.
5. Collaborate with the HR Manager to offer daily performance management support to line management, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
6. Address benefit inquiries in conjunction with the Benefits team.
7. Manage leave of absence (LOA) administration in partnership with the HR Department.
8. Assist in HR investigations, including interviewing employees and gathering written statements, in collaboration with Operations leaders.
9. Conduct new hire orientation for employees, ensuring all necessary federal and state documents are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
10. Engage in employee relations counseling, 90-day new hire check-ins, and exit interviews.
11. Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
12. Provide training for new and existing employees on HR systems and procedures.
13. Delegate projects as appropriate and ensure coverage of front-line associate concerns in the absence of the HR Coordinator.
14. Organize special events for staff by coordinating the distribution center calendar and schedules while adhering to budget constraints.
15. Monitor and update the Human Resources Database and performance management systems.
16. Perform other incidental and related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), conflict resolution, and collaborative management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an office environment.
- Knowledge of basic labor laws and practices (FMLA, CFRA, etc.).
- Understanding of Workers' Compensation law is advantageous.
- Knowledge of employee relations laws and practices.
- 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in a Human Resources generalist role.
- Previous experience in distribution or manufacturing HR preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflicts.
- BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent HR Generalist experience.
- PHR Certification in Human Resources or Employee Relations preferred.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, Kronos, Access Database, PowerPoint, Workday, and AS400.
