Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $21.00 per hour
Travel: Up to 50%
About the Role
As a Peer Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting adoptive, guardianship, and kinship/custodial families and case managers in accessing services. You will assist in developing, scheduling, and providing family engagement activities and support groups. You will work closely with the Permanency Resource Center Case Manager Supervisor and will be required to travel within the community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide families with information about community resources for services, ongoing support, and linkages.
- Assist parents and caregivers in identifying barriers to accessing community resources.
- Support parents and caregivers with documentation and other steps needed to access resources and support from public or private entities.
- Develop strategies and interventions to support parents/caregivers whose children's challenges create safety concerns.
- Collaborate with school personnel and attend meetings as needed to support the permanency care managers.
- Assist with transportation needs.
- Coordinate Family Engagement Events.
- Schedule child care staff for support groups.
- Participate in regular team meetings.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements and Education:
- A High School Diploma
- A valid Driver's License
- At least five years of experience working with families regarding adoption, foster care, guardianship care, or kinship care, or formal or informal custody.
