Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Training Programs: Create and deliver training materials, conduct safety training, and new hire orientation to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct Site Observations and Inspections: Conduct on-site safety observations and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis: Collaborate with operations to identify potential risks and hazards, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Develop and Maintain Safety Documentation: Ensure all worksites have required OSHA, MSHA, and DOT documentation in place, including hazcom, rigging, cranes, excavation, and scaffolds.
- Investigate Incidents and Near Misses: Conduct thorough investigations to identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Develop and Deliver Safety Communications: Create and deliver safety communications, including toolbox talks, safety flashes, and monthly training modules, to ensure a culture of safety.
- Conduct Subcontractor Safety Audits: Conduct safety audits of subcontractors to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and Maintain OSHA and MSHA Compliance: Ensure all worksites are in compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations, including conducting inspections and providing training.
- Conduct New Hire Orientation: Develop and deliver new hire orientation to ensure all employees understand company policies and procedures.
- Conduct Post-Accident Drug Screens: Conduct post-accident drug screens to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate in Project Planning Meetings: Attend project planning meetings to ensure safety considerations are integrated into project plans.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field and 0-3 years of experience in a safety role, or no degree with 1-3 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
- Valid Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license.
- Skills and Knowledge: Must be able to travel overnight or long distances, possess a willingness to learn and adapt to change, ability to work under deadlines and pressure, excellent communication and time management skills, and knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations.
