Job Title: Truck Service Technician

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career in the heavy equipment industry? Do you have a passion for working with diesel engines and heavy machinery? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Truck Service Technician to join our team at Wagner Equipment Co.

Job Summary:

The Truck Service Technician will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of customer and company heavy equipment and components. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of diesel engines and heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and components
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine and engine malfunctions and failures
  • Order replacement parts and ensure that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components
  • Prepare accurate and complete inspection, appraisal, and service reports
  • Communicate effectively with Service Writers, Shop Coordinators, and Shop Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
  • Provide direction, training, mentoring, and guidance to assigned service technicians

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred
  • 3-4 years experience working on Caterpillar Equipment OR 3 years in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair (EX: Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Etc.)
  • 1-3 years administrative/clerical experience
  • 1-3 years customer service experience

  • Reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Caterpillar Product Knowledge
  • Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer
  • Ability to type service reports

Work Environment:

The Truck Service Technician will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a focus on safety and quality. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
