Job Overview

This position provides medical and rehabilitative care to patients, utilizing preventative, rehabilitative, and emergency care techniques to assist patients in achieving optimal functioning.

The Athletic Trainer will perform initial evaluations, coordinate treatment plans, and monitor progress, referring patients as necessary to appropriate sources for care.

This position will comply with the policy and procedures of the department, organization, and JCAHO requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform initial evaluations of patients, including obtaining medical history and performing physical examinations
  • Present information and confer with attending physicians to determine treatment plans
  • Coordinate elements of treatment plans and monitor patient progress and adherence to treatment plans
  • Ensure that equipment or therapies recommended are obtained or carried out in a reasonable time
  • Provide routine medical care, such as minor dressing changes, suture or staple removal for post-operative patients
  • Provide health education and health maintenance services
  • Responsible for triage and referral to appropriate sources when primary care patients present with new symptoms
  • Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures
  • Assist with non-essential and non-clinical tasks to support the quality of care within the Department
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers or must be eligible
  • Athletic Training license or must be eligible to become licensed within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certified
